Casting, Advancement & Placement Policies

Casting Policy
All cast placements for any production made in the best interests of the Company and the Current Production under Artistic Composition. The Artistic Director makes casting decisions according to student’s technical skill and progress. Assignment of roles may be determined by availability of costumes. Therefore, all casting is final.

Advancement and Placement
The Dance Company placement is based on a Graded Program. As such it is designed to take your dancers from their first dance experiences to performances of pre-professional and professional caliber. Students progress according to individual development and will be advanced according to evaluation by the Executive and Artistic Directors. It is not unusual for a student to remain in a level for a few years. A dancer must be challenged, not overwhelmed. Promotion is subject to each individual student’s development and is at the discretion of the Executive and Artistic Directors.

When students progress to the upper levels, there is a concomitant increase in dedication and commitment from both the student and faculty. Performing opportunities increase. Students receive the attention and training required of a professional program.

Conferences may be arranged with the Executive Director. Fifteen minute appointments need to be scheduled in advance by contacting the office. After you have secured a time, you may direct your questions about any Class Placement to the Executive Director, who in turn will have a conference with the Artistic Director. After carefully evaluating and discussing all the information available, the Executive Director will meet with the parents at the pre-selected time and relay the joint decision.

At no point will any parent stop, disrupt or disturb a class that is in session, nor will they pursue a private conversation about a student in the reception area or hallway with either the Executive or Artistic Director before, after or between classes. Furthermore challenging class placement will not be permitted and may result in being dismissed from their role in the production or the Dance Academy School. Fees and Tuition will not be refunded.
